I’ve been a Forbes contributor for over a year now, and though I don’t often get the urge to comment on current events, when I do, I turn to Dos Equis…I mean Forbes. Those of you who follow my main blog know that my primary stock-in-trade is posts on timeless topics. So my writing here tends to be mainly an opportunistic, in response to current events.  It is most fun when I can connect a relatively timeless theme to a very current conversation, as I did in my “Entrepreneurs are the New Labor” trilogy. Those posts, plus a few more, were my favorites from the twenty I posted in 2012. I’ve highlighted my top 6 posts in bold below.

  1. Thinking, Fast and Slow: Big Data, Sandy and the Media
  2. Amazon Needs a Public Editor
  3. Soon, We Will All Be Hipsters
  4. Entrepreneurs are the New Labor: Part III
  5. Entrepreneurs are the New Labor: Part II
  6. Entrepreneurs are the New Labor: Part I
  7. The Real Reason for Microsoft’s Woes
  8. NextBigThingOlogy: The World After Facebook
  9. Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Displays, But Didn’t Know Whom to Ask
  10. What is Good for Facebook is Good for America
  11. An Organization Design Renaissance
  12. GitHub and the Democratization of Programming
  13. The End of Pax Papyra and the Fall of Big Paper
  14. Can You Use Big Data? The Litmus Test
  15. The People of the Petabyte
  16. Data, Data Everywhere, Not a Byte to Drink
  17. Top Ten Things to Do With Your Own Drone
  18. The Spice Operas are Coming
  19. Romney: the Google of Politicians
  20. CxOs as Stocks: The State of the Title Market, 2012

I was hoping to put on a more disciplined and deliberate show here, but thanks to the demands of my consulting work, it sort of ended up as a more impulsive outlet for me. We’ll see what 2013 brings. Suggestions welcome.

Happy New Year!
